I Won a 2026 Signal Podcast Award For Best Video Podcast Host!
Let us just start by saying those words again out loud: I won a 2026 Signal Podcast Award for Best Video Podcast Host. Honestly, writing it down still feels like a typo or a wonderful dream from which I am afraid to wake up. When we first submitted our show to the Signal Awards, we knew we were entering a competition that highlights the very best of the global podcasting landscape. The competition is fierce, the standards are impossibly high, and the talent across every single category is nothing short of breathtaking.
Winning this award is a testament to the evolution of our show. Podcasting started primarily as an audio-first medium, but over the last few years, the landscape has shifted dramatically. Video podcasting has become an art form all of its own. It requires a delicate balance of engaging audio storytelling, compelling visual framing, authentic body language, and the unique ability to connect with a camera lens as if it were a dear friend sitting across the table from you. To be recognized as the Best Video Podcast Host in such a competitive field is validation of the late nights, the creative risks, and the constant push to elevate our production value.
Sharing the Award Ceremony with Fellow Podcast Hosts: Jon Stewart, Oprah, and Amy Poehler
One of the most mind-blowing aspects of this entire experience has been looking at the winner's circle and seeing our name listed among absolute legends of entertainment, journalism, and comedy. Sharing the spotlight at the 2026 Signal Podcast Awards with icons like Jon Stewart, Oprah Winfrey, and Amy Poehler is very fitting and appropriate for up and coming Tony Rochman.
Seeing my show mentioned in the same breath as these industry giants is both humbling and intensely motivating. It proves that independent creators who pour their hearts, souls, and authentic perspectives into their work can capture the attention of a global audience. It reminds us that you do not need a massive legacy media conglomerate behind you to make great art; you just need a story to tell, a commitment to your craft, and an audience willing to listen and watch.
Behind the Scenes of My Winning Video Podcast Entry, Noah, Not A Black Jew, Part 1, Episode 16
Every award-winning moment has a backstory, and for us, that story lives in Episode 16 of our series, titled "Noah, Not A Black Jew, Part 1." This particular episode was a massive turning point for our channel and our podcast. It was an ambitious, deeply personal, and socially complex piece of content that required immense vulnerability, thorough research, and a very delicate narrative touch.
When I sat down in the studio to plan out Episode 16, I knew I was walking into territory that many creators might shy away from. The themes of identity, cultural intersections, and personal history are rarely simple, and translating those complex topics into an engaging video podcast format is a daunting task. As the host, my job was not just to deliver information, but to guide our viewers and listeners through an emotional and intellectual journey. I needed to be open, honest, and completely unfiltered. I only wish the young and foolish video editor, who barely was able to sync the audio and video (on his second attempt), had made the episode available on the Signal website which he neglected to do, to my dismay.
When the judges evaluated this episode for the Signal Podcast Awards, they were looking for originality, host presence, production quality, and the ability to captivate an audience from the first minute to the last. Seeing "Noah, Not A Black Jew, Part 1" recognized on such a grand scale proves that audiences and critics alike are hungry for authentic, brave, and deeply human content that challenges the status quo. If you have not seen or listened to Episode 16 yet, I encourage you to check it out on our YouTube channel or your favorite podcast app to see the exact piece of work that brought home the gold!
Looking Ahead: The 2027 Ambie Awards in which I have 4 submissions
While I am still celebrating the incredible high of the Signal Podcast Awards, the world of podcasting never sleeps! I am already looking ahead to January 2027 and setting our sights on the prestigious Ambie Awards, hosted by The Podcast Academy. The Ambies are widely regarded as one of the ultimate honors in the audio industry, celebrating excellence in podcasting across dozens of creative and technical categories.
I am beyond thrilled to announce that I have officially submitted my work for consideration across four distinct categories for the upcoming 2027 Ambies! Putting together these submissions was an exercise in reflection. Looking back at everything I've produced over the past year made me realize just how much ground we have covered as a community. We have laughed together, cried together, tackled difficult cultural dialogues, and interviewed some of the most fascinating minds on the planet.
While I have to wait patiently for the nomination announcements to drop in early 2027, the act of submitting our work feels like a victory in and of itself. It forces us to look at our portfolio objectively and say, "Yes, this work matters. This story deserves to be heard on the biggest stages." Whether we walk away with Ambie nominations in January is ultimately up to the judges, but the journey of getting our work to that level of consideration is something I am immensely proud of. Stay tuned, because as soon as we hear any news regarding the 2027 Ambies, you will be the absolute first to know!
A Huge Thank You to All of My Fans, Amazing Listeners, YouTube Subscribers and, of course, the Award Ceremony Judges!
As we wrap up this celebratory blog post, I want to take a moment to address the most important people in this entire ecosystem: you. None of this—not the Signal Podcast Award, not the upcoming Ambie submissions, not even the simple fact that we get to step into a studio every week and talk about the things we love—would be possible without our amazing fans, dedicated listeners, and loyal YouTube subscribers.
To everyone who downloads our audio feeds, leaves five-star reviews on Apple Podcasts, hits the subscribe button on YouTube, drops comments under our video episodes, and shares our clips on social media: thank you. You are the heartbeat of this show. You validate the late-night editing sessions, the endless research, and the creative risks we take. When we win an award like the Signal Award, it is not just my name on the trophy; it is a shared victory for this entire community we have built together.
I also want to extend my deepest gratitude to the judges of the Signal Podcast Awards. Taking the time to sift through thousands of entries, listening to hours of audio, and watching countless hours of video is no small task. Your appreciation for our work means the world to our entire team, and it inspires us to aim even higher for our upcoming episodes and seasons.
As we look forward to the rest of the year and ahead to the 2027 Ambie Awards, I promise you that we are not slowing down. I have bigger ideas, bolder conversations, and even more incredible video podcast episodes lined up for you.
